July 6, 1955 - Jan. 14, 2018

Anne Louise Upshaw, 62, of Placerville, died Sunday, January 14, 2018, at Marshall Hospital following a sudden illness. She was born July 6, 1955 in Oakland, Calif., the daughter of Gwen (Lindner) Upshaw, and the late Rev. James C. Upshaw. Anne graduated from Terra Linda High School in San Rafael, Calif., with the class of 1974. She moved to Placerville in 1977 where she has lived for the past 40 years. Anne was an active member of El Dorado County Federated Church, rarely missing a service. She was a voracious reader and a fan of old movies, Dr. Who, and Mexican Train games with family. She baked the best cookies in the county, sharing sugar cookies each month at her church women's luncheons, and snickerdoodles that her family couldn't live without. She was everyone's first choice when picking teams for Trivial Pursuit. Anne was an active volunteer, most recently reading to students at the Winnie Wakeley Special Education Center in Camino. She was generous, determined, and enjoyed a good laugh.
She is survived by her mother, Gwen Upshaw, a brother, Jim (Cyndy) Upshaw, two sisters, Mary (John Endres) Upshaw, and Susanne (Lindy) Heidt, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. James Upshaw.
A celebration of Anne's life will be held on Sunday, February 18th, at 3 p.m. at El Dorado County Federated Church, 1031 Thompson Way, Placerville, Calif. A donation in Anne's memory may be made to Placerville Mobility Support Group, P.O. Box 2414, Placerville, CA 95667.
The family would especially like to thank the caregivers at Marshall Hospital whose expertise and sensitivity provided unparalleled support and care during the last weeks of Anne's life.
